Squishy, Funny Clay: The Art of Alexandra Standen · Craftwhack
Alexandra Standen has all sorts of cool stuff going on with her piece of work. What kept popping into my mind as I looked through her site was that she makes a lot of piece of work, and she makes various styles of work, but within each grouping everything is very like and within what seems like some boundaries or rules she set up for herself.
When I wait at artists' work, I ofttimes wonder if they are and so fascinated past a certain color or shape that they must explore that concept until they simply grow weary of information technology.
I empathize that idea, simply I could never get there equally an artist- instead I just bounced effectually and made all sorts of images. They were like in style and medium, but really strayed much farther abroad from a central concept than some artists.
Inside each of these groupings, I honey how Alexandra has found a vocalism and stuck with it, and I discover each grouping of finger-marked, wonky shapes funny and quirky, and I sort of want to hug them.
